SUB250 GH PROJECT

Land Restoration and Reforestation — restoring previously arable areas affected by illegal mining and unsustainable timber felling.

THE PROJECT.

Through this land reclamation and reforestation project in partnership with Chiefs, local government, farmers and local communities, we are restoring, replenishing and replanting land around vital water sources in Ghana's Eastern Region.

Why is this project needed
01

Why Is This Project Needed?

The Kwahu district in the Eastern Region has been devastated by illegal gold mining ('Galamsey') as well as illegal sand and clay mining. Vast areas of land are now rendered dysfunctional, with disrupted ecosystems, making it harder for people to grow food locally. Other serious consequences include the polluting and redirecting of waterways.

Already achieved
02

Already Achieved

We worked with The Chief of the affected lands, The Obomeng Hene, Nana Effah Opinamang III, local miners, community groups and farmers to reclaim an initial 20 hectares of distressed land and plant 30,000 trees. We continue to move forward with the Sub250 Ghana project of Land Reclamation, Restoration and Reintegration.

Our goals
03

Our Goals

Our primary goal remains to assist in the reclamation and revitalizing of distressed lands, the introduction of eco-friendly and sustainable farming practices and agroforestry methods. We are currently working towards the planting of 250,000 trees, specifically chosen to help restore ruined ecosystems.

Ecosystem Restoration
04

Ecosystem Restoration

Surface mining in Ghana poses major challenges to the environment. Land degradation results in significant disruption to established ecosystems — devastating soil biodiversity, leading to increased soil temperature, loss of nutrients, erosion, and changes in topography and hydrology.

MAKE A DONATION.

By working together, we can make a greater impact on the world around us. Every donation, large or small, will be used to support life-changing programs in areas of high need.

Will Back Fill One Hectare (2.471 Acres)

Reclaiming affected land and returning it to agricultural use helps mitigate climate change, contributes to food security, provides economic benefits and promotes rural development.

Project SUB250 GHANA will utilize funding to help plant 10,000 trees, contributing to global climate efforts and reforestation initiatives.

Will Set Up Community Nurseries

Tree nurseries play a crucial role supporting Ghanaian farming communities by propagating and distributing tree seedlings to farmers for reforestation and soil protection.

Equipment donations are fundamental to the African farmer. Equipment donated is the initial start they need for all their agricultural activities.

Donate
£100

Education and training in reforestation and farm management is an essential requirement of modern day farming — a concept that sustains the human population.

Will Provide Fruit Trees

Families benefit from the trees as they provide both fruit and firewood for the future for their own consumption and in some cases, income generation.
